This competition/fundraising effort will be open to students who are in grades 9 through 12.
Students can sign up for the chance to be contestants on our websites www.wolfabilene.com and www.qcountryradio.com.
Those wishing to compete must complete the registration by 12 midnight on May 31st.
You will be notified via email on or before June 4th if you have been chosen as a finalist. It is important that you provide an email address that you check regularly.
We will have an initial meeting with all final participants on June 9th at 3pm at our office at 2249 Industrial Blvd, Abilene, TX 79602. It is important that you or someone representing you be able to attend this meeting. Certain exceptions will be given if you are unable to attend.
Up to 10 students will be selected from the entries to be our finalists. KABW/KORQ Staff will determine the finalist based on the information provided. This decision will be at the discretion of Community Broadcast Partners Staff.
Student involvement in civic activities will be used to determine our finalists, so make sure to note that in your submissions.
If you are chosen as a finalist to participate in the competition, you will be using tickets to water parks and other items to raise money for Children’s miracle network. Creative ideas to raise money tend to generate the best return.
Our finalists will each be given vouchers for a TBD number of tickets to Theme Parks, Water Parks, and/or Local gift cards/certificates that they will use to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network.
Participants will be required to come to our studios on a day and time TBD every week during the competition to bring in money raised.
Participants will be allowed to miss one of the group meetings at our studio.
At that time you will also be given more tickets/certificates if you have depleted your supply, providing we still have some available at the point you bring them in.
The competition will continue during the time until we have depleted all tickets and certificates on July 11th. The winner will be announced on July 16th.
The winners will be determined by the most money raised for Children’s Miracle Network. Total prize money is 50 percent of the prize money raised or $5,000 whichever is greater up to $5,000. Each winner will receive a maximum of 50% of the total money they raise, or the amount listed below. Prize money will be distributed as follows:
1) Up to $3,000 (Tie for 1st, Contestants would split 1st & 2nd)
2) Up to $1,500 (Tie for 2nd, contestants would split 2nd & 3rd)
3) Up to $500 (Tie for 3rd, contestants would split 3rd)
In the event of a tie, prize money will be split among those who are tied.
Example #1: Two people are tied with the amount raised, and they are the top money raisers. The first and second place prize money will be added together, and the two participants will each receive ½ of that total.
Example #2: Three people are tied for third place. All three will split the 3rd place prize money.
95.1 The Wolf & Q-Country 96.1 will support the participants’ fund-raising efforts with commercials and social media. It is up to you to approach the station. Our support will include commercials, social media posts and/or on-air interviews. Social media posts and on-air interviews will be limited to one per week per participant who has coordinated with us. We will run 80 commercials per week on each station that will rotate equally with all participants who have requested commercials.
The decisions of our Community Broadcast Partners are final.
